A busy week at Kingussie saw the Gents’ competitions dominated by lower handicap golfers. In Wednesday’s Charity medal, Paul Gow (7) was the winner with a nett score of 65, winning on countback from Ian Clark (5). Other leading scores were Richard Selvester (4) on 67, and Thomas Borthwick (4) with a score of 68. Saturday’s Millennium Trophy was won by Ian Anderson (6), whose gross score of 71 was highlighted by his covering the last six holes in 19 shots, three under par. Ian Clark (5) continued his good form by returning a nett 66 to finish second, ahead of Norman MacWilliam on countback. Other leading scores : Ali Dallas (4) , 67, and Jim Bishop (6) 68.
The Ladies Championship rounds were concluded this week. In Div 1, the winner was Liese Collins whose rounds of 89 and 91 left her clear of runner up Nancy Phillips. In Div 2 the winner was Ann Nield and runner up Paddy Ross.
The first of the club’s nine-hole competitions took place on Thursday, and proved to be an enjoyable event. The winner of the Ladies stableford competition was Liese Collins, with Jill Banks in second place, while in the Gents section, Allan Munro came out on top after count back from Gary Dallas, with Robin Falconer in third place. The next nine-hole competition is scheduled for Sep 22nd.
